Mesa man arrested near Othello for alleged stolen firearm

OTHELLO — A Mesa man was booked on suspicion of possessing a stolen firearm following a traffic stop near Othello by Adams County Sheriff’s deputies Friday.
Salvador Barragan Rivera, 19, was arrested after being stopped for an alleged traffic violation in the 2100 block of West Cunningham Road, according to an ACSO release. “During the stop, deputies observed a firearm inside the vehicle. The driver, who was not legally eligible to possess a firearm due to age, was removed from the vehicle while deputies continued their investigation,” the ACSO release said. “The firearm was secured and a records check revealed it had been reported stolen.”
Barragan was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possessing a loaded gun in a motor vehicle, the release said.
