The final week of regular season baseball just wrapped up and each Lake County squad battled for their final wins before potential play-in games.

All teams suffered some losses but Polson and Mission/Arlee/Charlo fought for some quality wins as well to set up some interesting games before the play-in weekend.

Polson 9, Bigfork 4

The Pirates had their best result of the week with a win against Bigfork on May 12.

Both teams struggled to score but Polson found opportunities earlier with runs in the first and third innings. Bigfork knotted it up 2-2 in the fourth inning to push Polson back.

They both nabbed two runs in the sixth inning to keep it tied up going into the final inning. However, Polson showed up with five runs while keeping the Vikings scoreless to take the 9-4 win.

Cole Wadsworth earned one RBI on two hits with two runs while Paxson DuMont helped out with the same amount of RBIs and runs as his teammate on one less hit.

Columbia Falls 4, Polson 1

Polson couldn’t keep that momentum up as they dropped their game against Columbia Falls on May 14.

The Wildcats took the lead immediately and never trailed. Three runs in the first and second innings helped keep Columbia Falls ahead while Polson tried to push back. The Pirates struggled and managed just one run in the sixth.

They lost 4-1 in their first of two games on a road trip to Columbia Falls.

Brayson DuMont scored the lone RBI with Noah Agliano scoring the lone run.

Hamilton 4, Polson 1

Polson dropped their final game of the weekend against Hamilton May 15.

It was another situation where Polson trailed after the first inning and never found a way back in. Even with Hamilton scoring inconsistently, the Pirates couldn’t find a way to make up for the deficit.

They dropped game two of the away weekend 4-1.

Agliano earned the only RBI while Paxson DuMont nabbed the lone run.

MAC 13, Ronan 3

It was rivalry week in the final regular season weekend and the Mission/Arlee/Charlo Bulldogs took the win over Ronan on May 12.

The Chiefs led for most of this game with two runs in the first inning defining what looked to be a defensive game. However, the Bulldogs had a stellar fifth inning by scoring 10 runs. Ronan only had a run in the fifth inning left before dropping this one.

MAC won 13-3 in six innings.

MAC’s Milo Crooks led the team with two RBIs. Ronson Hout and Jason Leishman tied for most hits with two while Hout, Landon Schmucker and Mason Evans each nabbed two runs.

Everett Lozeau had the best day for Ronan with one RBI on one hit with two runs scored.

Lincoln County 15, Ronan 0

The Chiefs wrapped up their week with a tough loss to Lincoln County on May 15.

The Lions only needed three innings to close this one out as they earned seven runs in the second inning and eight runs in the third. Ronan struggled to get runners to home plate as they lost out early.

Ronan fell 15-0 in three innings.

Lozeau notched the only two hits for Ronan as the top hitter.

Corvallis 3, MAC 2

MAC lost a close one against Corvallis on May 14.

The Bulldogs led for most of this game with runs in the first and second innings, giving them a good chance at the win. Corvallis only managed a run in the third before both teams went zero in the fourth and fifth. However, Corvallis tied it up in the sixth to take this one into extra innings.

The Blue Devils got the walk-off run in the eighth inning to win 3-2.

Joseph Cronk and Hudson Hawkaluk each earned RBIs as Milo Crooks led the team in hits with two.

MAC Baseball 7, Noxon Baseball 2

The Bulldogs got a bounceback win against Noxon to finish the week May 16.

The Red Devils led in the first inning but that was it for Noxon’s scoring punch. MAC dominated the rest of the game by scoring in four of the next six innings.

They kept Noxon away from home plate while securing consistent runs throughout this one to close out the game 7-2 for their second win of the week.

Hawkaluk was the most successful hitter with two RBIs on one hit with one run scored. Jake Helser also had a great game pitching, allowing just two runs and five hits while notching 13 strikeouts.
