Polson tennis drops matches against Whitefish

The Pirates suffered some losses to close out the regular season as they dropped their team matches against Whitefish.
Whitefish Girls 6, Polson Girls 1
In the first girls matchup, Whitefish’s Liesl Brust beat Karly Smith 6-1, 6-3. Emy Hansen also won for Whitefish over Baylee Lemm, 6-3, 6-3.
Zoe Schroeder got Polson’s only win in this one over Ainsley Grubb, 6-2, 6-4. Daisy Lusko closed out Whitefish’s girls singles wins with a victory over Amy Thoft, 7-5, 6-4.
In doubles, Camry Kelch and Allie Shors got a win for Whitefish over Hinkley Moss and Greta Lund, 6-0, 6-0. Aubrey Talbot and Lucy Marzo got another Whitefish win over Vivian Grainey and Josie Henriksen, 6-2, 6-3.
Delila Vine and Sammie Shors closed out the wins for the Bulldogs over Alexa Kinaman and JoHanna Bieber, 6-2, 6-3.

In the girls second team match, Hansen beat Smith 6-1, 6-2. Brust also got a win over Lemm, 6-1, 6-3. Vine beat out Schroeder 6-3, 7-5. Grubb kept up the singles sweep over Thoft, 6-1, 7-5.
Moss and Lund got the lone win for Polson over Marzo and Talbot, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. Kelch and Allie Shors got a Whitefish win over Grainey and Henriksen, 6-0, 6-2.
Annabell Barrile and Vivian Trieweiler-Schmit closed out Whitefish’s girls victories over Kinaman and Bieber, 7-5, 7-5.
Whitefish Boys 7, Polson Boys 0
For the boys, Jack Oehlerich got Whitefish started with a win over Ruger Ellis, 6-3, 6-2. Owen Erickson got another Whitefish win over Maddox Bird, 6-0, 6-1.
Eli Erickson got Whitefish on the board again with a win over Cash Brown, 6-2, 6-4. Ben Nelson closed out the Whitefish wins over Brody Kilin, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles, Aaron Anderson and Marcus Mercer got Whitefish a win over Marcus Lucas and Teague McElwee, 6-4, 6-3. Cole Moses and Jake Shors kept it up for the Bulldogs by beating Strider Gage and Zayne Newman, 6-1, 6-3.
Charlie Oehlerich and Finn Hobart got the sweep with a win over Parker Hendrickson and Truman Sawyer, 6-4, 6-2.
Whitefish Boys 6, Polson Boys 1
In the second boys team match, Erickson beat out Ellis 6-2, 6-1. Oehlerich got another win, this time over Bird, 6-2, 6-0. Anderson beat out Brown 6-1, 6-2. Mercer closed out the singles sweep with a win over Kline, 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles, Moses and Shors beat out Lucas and McElwee, 6-2, 7-5. Gage and Newman earned Polson’s only boys win of the day over Oehlerich and Hobart, 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (7).
Erickson and Nelson closed out the weekend with a win over Hendrickson and Sawyer 6-4, 7-6 (8), 6-4.

Successful softball season closes for Lake County teams
Softball wrapped up this past week with Polson, Ronan and Mission/Arlee/Charlo all fighting against the best in Classes A and B. Despite no local team winning a state title, they all played close games to wrap up a successful year for these three softball squads.
Polson tennis stuns top competition at state tennis tournament
In a fight for the top of the high school tennis scene in Montana, the Polson team remained the lone participant of any Lake County school at any classification. Two singles and two duos took on the best at the Class A State Tennis Tournament in Hardin with a chance at state glory. Even with no state champions, each athlete competed to the end as the tennis season closed out.
Track season closes with top finishes in Missoula, Laurel
The final weekend of track and field wrapped up for all Lake County schools as the best athletes from each school tried their hand at earning a medal. Each area school sent at least one participant to the state meet, making this an exciting weekend of all the local schools.
