POST FALLS - Post Falls Police is investigating the thefts of several utility trailers over the last few months.

PLOW: Piles of praise

In answer to Dorothy Pietlicki’s letter (Plows: Where Art Thou?) in Wednesday’s Press, and in defense of our snowplows, there comes a point, and that’s where we are now, that they are running out of space to put the snow. You may not have noticed, but plows are working around the clock to remove snow that is piled so high you can’t see around or over it.

IRS: Heard loud and clear

Recently the Cd’A Press published my letter about an IRS article asking charitable groups to report Social Security numbers of donors. I said that would mean massive work for charities, discourage donors and create opportunity for identity theft.

Lost debit card returned to owner

A woman called police when she found a debit card that had apparently been dropped and forgotten on the bus. The Whitefish Police Department was able to return the card to the owner.

Several small fires close some Glacier Park trails

Glacier National Park has closed some trails and a portion of the Inside North fork Road from Polebridge down to Logging Creek as it battles several small fires in the region.

Snow puts end to vandalism investigation

A man wanted to report incidents of vandalism to his equipment to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. He said he believed a boyfriend of an upstairs tenant was responsible and now had tracks in the snow to prove it. But his efforts were undone by the fact that there was no damage to either vehicle and the hood of the one truck had been closed, which he claimed had been opened. He was also further undone by the fact that the footprints were covered by snow and the size didn’t match the suspect’s boot size.

Flathead County sheriff's deputies took a woman into custody after a man called early Sunday, saying she had hit him and cut his face. He wanted her out of the house. Both had been drinking, and guns were at hand.

The Flathead County Sheriff's Office dispatched Flathead Search and Rescue

on Wednesday night to find a missing woodcutter. The 68-year-old man had left at noon and had not returned by 9:30 p.m. He was found in the Sylvia Lake area where his return had been thwarted by a flat tire.
