SANDPOINT — Schweitzer Mountain officials lifted a day-long boil water advisory on Tuesday morning.

Residents on the mountain were informed Monday morning of the advisory by a notice from the Schweitzer Water Company. The notice was issued because of an electronic communication error at the top section of the water system, Tom Turlock, president of the utility company said.

Officials from the Schweitzer Water Company said the water pressure at the top of its system dropped below 20 PSI on Saturday for around four and a half hours. This drop created conditions that could lead to contamination, officials said.

"The water outage/depressurization was caused by a faulty transducer that did not allow water to transfer between reservoirs, and the transducer was replaced,” Officials said in the notice.

Turlock said the company worked to fix the issue on Monday evening but could not lift the advisory until Tuesday as they waited for tests results from the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality to come back. Officials received those results, which indicated the water was safe to drink, early Tuesday and lifted the warning.
