The makeup of city elections across Bonner County is beginning to take shape as the filing window to declare for the Nov. 4 election for non-write in candidate has passed.

Write-in candidates can still register and those who filed to run can still withdraw until Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. with city clerks across the county. For these reasons, the list below is subject to change and might not match the finalized list.

To prepare for the Nov. 4 election, voters can register online or by filling out a completed voter registration application form and returning it to the Bonner County Clerk or election office. On election day, voters can also register at the polling locations with a photo ID and proof of residence.

When going to vote, don’t forget to bring a valid Idaho ID or signed affidavit attesting to your identity, which is required every time you vote in Idaho.

Sandpoint

In Sandpoint, there will be three council seats open, that are currently held by Rick Howarth, Joel Aispuro and Justin Dick. Aispuro and Howarth are running for re-election, while newcomers Joe Tate and Joshua Torrez will be running for a spot as well.

Sandpoint does not have representation districts, and all three seats are at-large. There are four polling locations inside the city, located at 711 Main St., 1325 Pine St., 4205 N. Boyer Ave. and 526 Olive Ave.

Priest River

The two council seats held by Candy Turner and Billy Mullaley will be up for election. Both Turner and Mullaley are running for re-election and are the only candidates who have declared as of publication. There is one polling location in Priest River at 5399 U.S. 2.

Ponderay

The council seats held by Rick Larkin and Phil McNearney will be on the ballot. As of publication, both Larkin and McNearney are running for re-election unopposed. The closest polling location to Ponderay is at 227 McGhee Road.

Dover

In Dover, two council seats, held by Kim Bledsoe and Merlin Glass, and the office of mayor, held by George Eskridge, are up for election this November. Four candidates have declared their intent to run for the council seats, Bledsoe, Glass, Jerry Heaps and Hans Steidl. Only one person, Keith Congleton, has declared intent to run for mayor.

The Dover polling place will be located at 699 Lakeshore Ave.

Kootenai

The District 1 council seat, held by David Sundquist, and District 3 seat, held by Joseph Rafferty, are up for election in Kootenai. Currently, Robert Dressel and Danelle Baumgarten-Picket have declared intent to run for District 1 seat while Rafferty is the only candidate seeking the District 3 seat.

East Hope

East Hope has two council positions on the November ballot, which are currently held by Joyce Butler and Michael Wilcox. As of publication, only one candidate, Butler, has filed their intent to run. The polling place for East Hope also serves as the city of Hope and is located at 415 Wellington Place.

Clark Fork

Clark Fork’s mayoral office, held by Russell Schenck, and two seats on the couincil, held by Jay White and Vicki Woodward, will be on the ballot. Schenck is seeking re-election and will be challenged by Tanya Becker for the mayor’s office.

White and Woodward are the only two candidates who have registered for the council elections. The Clark Fork polling location will be 1001 N. Cedar St.
