TRAVEL: Sasquatch can't overcome mistakes in loss to Loggers

LIBBY — A late-game rally powered by Sandpoint High rising junior Blake Bogadi wasn't enough to push the Sandpoint Sasquatch 17U past the Libby Loggers A 18U in an 11-5 loss on Tuesday evening.
In a reversal of Monday night's game against Libby, Sandpoint fell behind early, conceding four runs in the first inning. Despite a solid start for Sandpoint High rising senior Carson Resso, striking out two batters in the opening inning, the Loggers cobbled together three walks and a single to take the early advantage.
Libby continued to add onto their lead in the second and third innings, fueled by four Sandpoint errors. The Sasquatch errors were especially disastrous in the third inning, where pitcher Asher Cramer quickly induced two outs. The two mistakes allowed the Loggers to build an 8-0 lead.
The Clark Fork native, Cramer, ended his day after throwing 2.1 innings, giving up four hits and one earned run.
His brother, Arrow Cramer, delivered a masterful fourth inning on the mound, working three outs in four batters to keep the game within reach. In need of an offensive spark, the Sasquatch found it in Bogadi, who sent a pitch screaming down the left field line for a double to open the fifth, the first hit of the day for Sandpoint.
Cramer quickly followed that up with a single to put runners at the corners and eventually forced a Libby mistake that scored Bogadi. Another double from Sandpoint High rising junior Daniel Holman allowed Cramer to touch the plate, cutting the lead to 8-2.
Holman snatched third and scored on another Libby error, making the Loggers' lead 8-3. While Conner Brown extended the two-out rally with a single, it was soon snuffed out after Trevor Tadic lined out to the shortstop.
Back on the mound, Cramer delivered a second quick inning but didn't escape unscathed. Libby's right fielder Boe Miles got a hold of the first pitch of his at bad, sending it over the wall for a home run and extending his team's lead to 9-3.
Resso and Sandpoint High rising sophomore Erik Hansen battled to work walks off Hunter Rooney, before Bogadi delivered again with an RBI single with two outs. Bogadi was the only Sasquatch player to record two hits, finishing the day 2-2 with a double, an RBI and a walk.
With the deficit down to just four runs, Sandpoint needed to keep Libby at bay before their last chance to bat in the top of the seventh. It looked like the Sasquatch were going to do just that, with Cramer and Hansen striking out two of the first three Libby batters in the sixth.
However, a stolen base and two wild pitches let the game get away from the Sasquatch as the Loggers added another run to the board without recording a hit. Another walk issued by Hansen and an error allowed Libby to extend their lead back to six, 11-5, which would end up being the final score.
Luckily for the Sasquatch, they won't have time to linger on the loss, returning to the field for a doubleheader Thursday, July 9. Sandpoint is set to face the Tri-County Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. and the Missoula Mavericks A 2026 at 6 p.m. Both games will take place at Lindborg-Cregg Memorial Field in Missoula.
