SPIRIT LAKE — Bonners Ferry High School lost to Timberlake in the 4A District 1 championship, with two hits from Sadie Frederickson the standout performance.
Frederickson was 2-for-2 with a run scored during the game, held on May 4. Ryelle Short added a single and a run and Hailey Dickson also singled for Bonners Ferry.
Short threw a complete game, throwing four innings and striking out five batters. Four errors hurt the Badgers. In total, she threw 122 pitches, 67 for strikes.
Bonners Ferry jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, with back-to-back singles from Frederickson and Short leading to the scoring.
Timberlake bounced back with a run of their own in the third inning, before a five-run burst from the Tigers in the second. After both teams could not score in the third, an eight-run fourth inning was enough as the Badgers lost 15-2 in five innings.
