NAMPA — Daniel Woelfle’s excellent tennis season has officially concluded, with the Bonners Ferry High School senior capping off his high school career with a win in one of his matches at state.

Woelfle ended the year with a 7-4 record, going 1-2 in the last tournament. In the 13-person 4A state bracket, he was unlucky to be paired up against the eventual winner in the first round, falling 6-1, 6-1.

An opponent from Coeur d’Alene Charter was up next and Woelfle delivered, with a straight set victory of 6-2, 6-4.

In his third and final match, Woelfle lost by a score of 6-3, 6-1. Each match lasted over an hour and a half as he battled in the tough southern Idaho heat and elevation.

Overall, Woelfle said it was a good experience and he appreciated the opportunity. He is grateful to the BFHS administration and coach Kent Anderson in Sandpoint for making it happen.

Woelfle intends to compete this summer in United States Tennis Association 18u tournaments to get his Universal Tennis Rating up.

Woelfle will attend Whitworth University tennis team in the fall and will attempt to walk on to their tennis team.
