PREP TRACK & FIELD: Badgers go south for state championship meet

MIDDLETON — The Bonners Ferry track and field team went to Middleton on May 15 and 16 for the Idaho 4A state meet. Several Badgers participated, with a total of six top-five finishes, including two state champions. 

On the boys side, it was a personal best for Devin Sceppe in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 43 seconds even to snag 11th place. In the 110-meter race, Sceppe set a season best with 17.2 seconds, placing 12th.  

Spiro Petras had a personal in the 400, as he placed 14th in 52.97 seconds.  

James Morgen placed fifth in shot put, with a throw of 49 feet, 6 inches, a personal best. He backed that up with an eighth placed throw in the discus, at 144 feet, 2 inches.  

Logan Archibald put in a great performance in the pole vault, finishing fourth with 13 feet, 6 inches, a personal best. Noah Landry had a personal best of his own, finishing ninth in the triple jump, at 40 feet, 7.5 inches. 

In the 4x100 relay, the team of Riley Beggerly, Ben Middleton, Spiro Petras and Gio Faroni set Bonners Ferry’s second-best time ever, behind their own record, at 44.53 seconds to finish sixth. 

On the girls side, Ireland Grady placed 13th in the 100 meters with a time of 13.27 seconds. Kylie Calderone was Bonners Ferry’s only other girl runner, finishing the 1600 in 5 minutes, 53 seconds. She placed 16th. 

Grady finished in the top ten with a pole vault of 8 feet, 6 inches. Eva Willis placed 14th in the high jump with 4 feet, eight inches.  

Aspen Graham just missed out on the top ten, finishing 11th in the shot put with 30 feet, 1 inch.
